Even with monsoon season here, the Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) is pushing to keep tourism alive on Shaheed Dweep. They recently wrapped up a two-day "familiarisation tour" – a FAM tour – on June 6th and 7th. The idea was to scout out tourism potential during the off-season. The tour brought together folks from AATO, other tourism businesses, local elected representatives, and government officials. Tour operators say this would make getting to the island a whole lot easier and more convenient for visitors.

Mobile phone service, or the lack thereof, was another hot topic. Participants pointed out that patchy networks are a huge headache for both tourists trying to stay connected and businesses that rely on online bookings and communication. It's tough to run a modern business without a reliable signal, right?

Better facilities at popular beaches also got a mention. People want more seating, improved public restrooms, and overall better upkeep at tourist spots to make sure visitors have a great experience.
