The Andaman and Nicobar Islands recently concluded their vibrant three-day Island Monsoon Food & Culture Festival 2026. This lively event, held at the ITF Ground in Sri Vijaya Puram, successfully brought together islanders and eager visitors for a grand celebration of local food, captivating cultural shows, and the rich, multicultural heritage of Andaman. The Department of Tourism, in close collaboration with various other local governmental departments and community organizations, meticulously organized and presented the festival. The final day, in particular, witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with families, international and domestic tourists, and a significant number of young people enthusiastically flocking to the venue. The Andaman Mahila Mandal then presented a moving piece titled “MY Bharat/Suron Ka Safar,” which resonated deeply with the audience. A very special and deeply appreciated traditional dance performance from the Karen Community further underscored the islands' unique cultural diversity, proudly showcasing their well-preserved heritage. An exquisite Odissi Nritya performance followed, captivating viewers with one of India’s most ancient and revered classical dance forms. The festival reached its crescendo with an electrifying live show by the popular Kalapani Band, who expertly performed an array of popular Bollywood songs, igniting a celebratory mood and ensuring the festival concluded on an extraordinarily high and memorable note.
