Andaman & Nicobar Police Participate in NATGRID Workshop to Boost

On May 11, the Andaman and Nicobar Police organized a comprehensive one-day Workshop-cum-Training Programme on NATGRID Solutions. The event, held at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Police Training Institute (NSCBPTI) in Sri Vijaya Puram, was a collaborative effort with the National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID), an initiative operating under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The primary objective of this intensive program was to significantly enhance intelligence coordination and empower law enforcement with modern investigation techniques.

The workshop saw robust participation from officers representing the Andaman and Nicobar Police, alongside delegates from various other key investigating agencies. The esteemed presence of Mr. Hirdesh Kumar, IAS, CEO of NATGRID, underscored the importance of the event. He was accompanied by Mr. Murlidhar Mishra and Mr. Anup Kumar, both integral members of the NATGRID team. Furthermore, senior officers of the Andaman and Nicobar Police, as well as representatives from other crucial agencies, were in attendance, fostering an environment of inter-agency collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Fostering Enhanced Intelligence Sharing and National Security

The program commenced with a traditional and ceremonial lamp lighting, a symbolic gesture performed by Mr. Hirdesh Kumar. He was joined by several distinguished senior police officials, including Ms. Sindhu Pillai, IPS, ADGP, A&N Islands, and Dr. A. Koan, IPS, DIGP (Training). During her address, Ms. Sindhu Pillai eloquently articulated the critical importance of embracing modern intelligence-sharing mechanisms and integrating advanced technological solutions. She emphasized that such advancements are paramount for bolstering national security and significantly improving the efficacy of investigation systems across the union territory.

Following this, Mr. Hirdesh Kumar delivered a compelling introductory address on NATGRID. He meticulously highlighted the indispensable role of robust intelligence coordination and the imperative of leveraging technology-driven investigation systems in strengthening India's internal security apparatus. The NATGRID team then proceeded to provide a series of detailed and insightful presentations, complemented by live demonstrations. These sessions offered practical guidance on effectively utilizing the multifarious NATGRID solutions and platforms, equipping participants with the necessary knowledge to harness these powerful tools in their daily operations.

Widespread Participation and Skill Enhancement Across the Islands

The workshop garnered substantial engagement, with approximately 52 officers from the Andaman and Nicobar Police physically attending the sessions at NSCBPTI. These dedicated professionals were joined by officials from other pivotal agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), facilitating a rich cross-pollination of expertise and perspectives. In a remarkable display of reach and commitment to widespread training, approximately 147 police personnel from all 26 police stations scattered across the Andaman and Nicobar Islands participated virtually. This hybrid approach ensured that a significant portion of the law enforcement community benefited from the invaluable training provided.

Organizers of the workshop underscored its profound significance, stating that it served as a crucial platform for elevating professional skills among participants. It was also instrumental in fostering improved inter-agency coordination, a vital component for tackling complex criminal activities and security threats. Moreover, the program aimed to deepen the understanding of contemporary intelligence and investigation systems, keeping participants abreast of the latest advancements in the field. The productive event concluded on a note of gratitude, with a comprehensive vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Suma Madda, DANIPS, Dy.SP (CID). Ms. Madda played a pivotal role in organizing the program, which was conducted under the overall and diligent supervision of the Principal, NSCBPTI.
