If you ask ten people when to visit the Andaman Islands, you'll probably hear "October to May" and not much more nuance. That's technically correct, but as someone who lives here year‑round, I can tell you that each month has a different personality—and not every month suits every traveler.
October–November: Fresh, green, and opening up
- Monsoon has just retreated; islands are lush and green.
- Seas are generally calmer but you can still get the occasional shower.
- Great for: photographers, couples, and anyone who likes mild crowds and decent prices.
December–January: Peak season, peak energy
- This is high season: Christmas–New Year holidays, long school breaks, and ideal beach weather.
- Seas are calm, visibility for diving is excellent, and most activities run without interruption.
- Prices for hotels and ferries are at their highest and you must book weeks in advance.
February–March: Best all-round window
- Weather is stable, days are warm but not harsh, nights are pleasant.
- Great time for scuba, snorkeling, kayaking, and long ferry rides.
- Crowds thin slightly after New Year, but the vibe and activity options remain top‑tier.
April–May: Hot but great for water
- Temperatures rise, humidity increases, but the sea is often at its clearest for diving and snorkeling.
- Ideal for serious water‑sports lovers who can handle heat.
- Families and honeymooners still come in large numbers due to school holidays and summer vacations.
June–September: Monsoon and why it's not all bad
- Expect regular rain, choppy seas, and occasional cancellations of ferries and water activities.
- On the positive side, hotel prices drop, beaches are quieter, and the landscape is at its most dramatic.
- Not recommended if your main goal is scuba or island hopping, but can work for slow travelers who enjoy watching storms roll in.
So when should you come?
- Honeymoon and first‑time visitors: November–March.
- Budget travelers: October, late March, April, or early May.
- Hardcore divers: December–April, with a slight edge to Feb–March.
Whenever you choose to come, AndamanBazaar can help you match your dates with the right islands, ferries, and experiences so you don't land here in the middle of a weather window that doesn't match your expectations.
